While scrolling through my Facebook I came across an advertisement for a lantern festival that The Lights was putting on. I never really pay attention to the adds on Facebook because you never know what is real and what is a scam. When I saw this particular advertisement I was immediately excited, I have always wanted to go to a lantern festival. When I realized that the date of the festival and our anniversary were the same I knew it was meant to be.
The Lights is a non-profit organization that works with its host city to donate to local charities. The lights also donates to national charities as well. When I found this out it only made me all the more excited to go.
So Friday we packed up our picnic basket and headed to Floresville. We arrived early, sat and enjoyed the atmosphere. The location for the fest was Cycle Ranch, which I thought was really cool. There were a couple of speakers before the event, that included both the husband and wife who owned the property.
As it got closer to sunset people started to write on the lanterns. We were encouraged to write hopes, dreams, fears, and notes to loved ones that have passed. Basically whatever felt right in the moment.
It was great to sit and laugh with Ross, talk about our future and spend some one on one time together. (Not gonna lie when I saw that he wrote "I'm marrying my best friend" it really touched my heart) I sure do love this guy and couldn't have picked a better guy to spend the rest of my life with.
As the sun set we anxiously awaited the time where we could release our lanterns. unfortunately my camera couldn't capture the beauty that was the releasing of the lanterns. but maybe that's for the best, it gave me time to sit back and enjoy that time as a couple.

It truly was an incredible experience. There was a sense of peace and tranquility as we released our lanterns and watched as they drifted to the sky. This was a great event and we plan on attending again next year!
